Media report 2 trains collide in Oakland

(AP) ? Bay area media say as many as 18 people are hurt after two Amtrak trains collided at the Amtrak station in Oakland.

The Oakland Tribune and KTVU-TV say the crash occurred around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

KTVU says up to 18 people were injured but there was no immediate word on how seriously.

Alton Smith, a passenger on one of the trains, told the station that it was "an awful jolt."

No other details were immediately available. A call to Amtrak by The Associated Press was not immediately returned.
