LONDON (AP) -Wigan defender Antolin Alcaraz has been banned for three matches after accepting a charge of spitting at an opponent during a Premier League match.
The Paraguay international was charged by the Football Association on Monday after being caught by television cameras spitting at Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Richard Stearman during Sunday's game at Molineux, which Wolves won 3-1.
The incident was missed by match officials.
Alcaraz's suspension for matches against Blackburn, Sunderland and Arsenal deals another blow to Wigan, which is last after eight straight losses.
