JOB SUMMARY

The Psychological Evaluator works as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide psychological assessments for students ages 5-21 enrolled in education programs at Wheeler Clinic.

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited university, School Psychologist, or a post-doctoral level with a Master's degree and experience in the provision of assessment and clinical services with children/youth is required.

Licensure Requirements for Clinical Positions

-Credential(s) Required: Licensed or license eligible by the state of CT is preferred.

-School certification by the CT Department of Education for all positions where school certification is available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts psychological assessments and functional behavioral assessments (training provided), completes comprehensive integrated reports including education related recommendations, and effectively reports results in writing and verbally to parents, classroom staff, Pupil Placement Team meeting (PPT) participants, as well as in other venues.

Contributes to the development of the client's (student's) Individual Educational Plan (IEP) and provides discipline related mandated services in compliance with the IEP.

Demonstrates knowledge of child development, psychopathology, trauma-informed and relationally-based treatment, and evidence-based treatment modalities and translates this knowledge into classroom based psycho-educational interventions, as well as individual, group, and family therapy and crisis intervention recommendations designed to promote positive social and emotional development, increase healthy and effective coping skills, improve functioning at school, and increase student self understanding.
