Whodathunk?
Too bad the State Department and other "whole of government" types didn't/couldn't/wouldn't step up, and DoD didn't/couldn't/wouldn't demand that they do so *and* let them operate as they should, vice as junior partners.
A failure of the generals, and the civilians who oversaw them, and the politicians who oversee it all.
But I despair we will fully incorprate the lessons from this going forward.? Because it's not just DoD, it's the coterie of people who surround the President, the external policy wonks and academics, and other agenices of the USGOV who have to learn from this, too.
Most of whom will be busy pointing out why it was someone else's fault, if they even track it.
Meh.
